RHS HAMPTON COURT PALACE FLOWER SHOW JULY 2011
We are thrilled to announce we are exhibiting at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show from Tuesday 5th to Sunday 10th of July. We have some extraordinary new work to show, much of it for the garden, including some fabulous birdbaths and centre pieces. We also have plenty of indoor sculptures and smaller work, ideal for gifts.
We're in a great location, just next to Cube Lighting's beautiful feature garden (opposite the WWF show garden), not far from the Swinging Sixties Floral Studio and Fashion tent.

OUR EXHIBITION IN PROVENCEMara Sculpture collaborated with the Seillans Tourist Office to present an exhibition of recent sculpture from Zimbabwe. The exhibition ran from the 1st to the 11th of September and consisted of both abstract and figurative works by established and up-and-coming young artists.
It took an epic eighteen hour drive to get the sculptures to Provence and then one gruelling day's slog to set-up the exhibition. The centrepiece was a 250Kg "Owl" by Taurai Mupaso that took five men to lift.
We were delighted by how well the exhibition was received. We had hundreds of visitors, many of whom were new to Zimbabwean sculpture. People were impressed with the beauty and quality of the work and across the board, expressed their enthusiasm for it.
A local geologist, Pierre Ratcliffe, inspired by the stone as well as by the art, wrote a delightful and comprehensive blog about Zimbabwean sculpture:

HORIZON GALLERY
Mara Sculpture is collaborating with Horizon Gallery in a major exhibition of Zimbabwean sculpture. Horizon is one of Henley's foremost art galleries and is currently showing thirty new pieces from our recent collection. If you are visiting Henley or know people in the area, tell them to drop in and have a look at the exhibition.

NEW WORK & AUTUMN EXHIBITIONS
We are delighted to announce that our shipment of new work from Zimbabwe has arrived and we have a series of exhibitions planned for the Autumn. We begin in the gorgeous provincial town of Seillans in the South of France, from the 1st to the 12th of September. Later in the year, we'll be in Fulham and Notting Hill; details to follow soon.
We are very proud to have a collection of new work by Luke Saidi. 31 year old Saidi has been sculpting at the world-renowned Chapungu Sculpture Park for the past 17 years. He was apprenticed to his uncle, the legendary Sabiti Saidi. Saidi's work has a distinct and troubling feel. He is fascinated by the human condition and the constant struggles fought on the emotional battlegrounds of life.

EXHIBITION - DECEMBER 2009
Mara held its first exhibition at the Jeannie Avent Gallery, East Dulwich. It was a great success and we want to thank everyone who came along and supported us. It's wonderful to know that there is such interest and enthusiasm for Zimbabwean sculpture. Bernie will be going to Zimbabwe early next year to replenish the gallery. Do let us know if there is anything you want us to keep an eye out for.

SCULPTURES FINALLY ARRIVE - AUGUST 2009
In spring, Bernie spent six weeks in Zimbabwe meeting the artists and buying new stock. After a long battle with Zimbabwean customs, permission to export was granted and the sculptures
were packed up and sent by train to Durban. They sat around the docks for a while until they boarded a boat and finally arrived in the UK.... much to Bernie's delight.

Once in the UK,the sculptures were checked for damage, polished and prepped for a photo shoot.
